Fully Custom USB Connectivity for Medical Devices
Chimitech develops custom USB and USB-C cable assemblies to meet your medical device requirements, including signal integrity at the required cable length, tight dimensional constraints, and biocompatible materials. We provide design and engineering support to help reduce redesign risk and ensure the cable fits and performs as required before volume production.

One Cable Requirement Can Change the Entire Design
In a medical device, cable length, conductor size, shielding, OD, flexibility, materials, and connector geometry are connected.
For example, increasing cable length can require larger conductors to maintain signal performance. Larger conductors can increase cable OD, which may then affect flexibility, connector tooling, and enclosure fit.
Longer Length → More Signal Loss → Larger Conductors → Larger OD → Mechanical Changes → Revalidation
We evaluate these trade-offs before the design is released, so you can avoid solving one problem by creating another.
It All Starts with What Your Medical Device Needs
Whether you have a finished cable specification or only key requirements like speed, length, space, and flexibility, both are valid starting points. We don’t just build to drawings—we help identify the cable construction that will realistically work.
Make It Work at the Required Cable Length
A medical usb cable that performs at 1 meter may not deliver the same result at 2.5 or 3 meters. We evaluate cable length together with conductor gauge, data rate, shielding, impedance and power requirements.
- Optimized AWG for Required Length
- Controlled Impedance & Shielding
- Stable High-Speed Signal Performance
- Power & Data Engineered Together
Fit the Custom Cable Into Your Medical Device
Electrical performance is only useful if the finished cable also fits your enclosure. We design the cable around your available space instead of changing your device around the cable.
- Controlled Cable OD & Tolerances
- Compact Connector & Overmold Design
- Custom Strain Relief & Cable Entry
- 2D Drawings & STEP Files Support
Choose the Right Material for Your Application
Chimitech helps you select cable materials based on the real demands of your device, balancing durability, sterilization compatibility, chemical resistance and environmental exposure.
- Biocompatibility: ISO 13485-tested options available
- TPE for softness; TPU for elasticity and frequent flexing
- Disposable or Reusable Cable Options
- Supports 85°C / 85% RH aging requirements
Transparent Pricing
We believe in full cost transparency so you know exactly where every dollar goes. Custom medical cable development may involve tooling, custom materials, cable extrusion, and engineering samples. Applicable NRE items are identified and confirmed before work begins — no hidden add-ons.
Design Services & Estimated Costs
Every project is different, but the following real project example shows how custom-development costs may be structured:
Inner mold tooling: USD 850
Outer mold tooling: USD 900
Medical-grade TPE MOQ charge for samples: USD 500
Cable extrusion setup, including 100m raw cable: USD 600
Final development cost depends on your cable construction, materials, tooling, sample quantity, and validation requirements.
Common Medical Device Applications
From compact surgical instruments to high-bandwidth imaging systems, medical devices can require very different combinations of data, power, shielding, flexibility and mechanical integration.
